Default Changing gas tank and trunk release switch

HI guys,

My gas tank and trunk release switch kept falling into the door of my 1992 ES300. Recently, I purchased another button and I was wondering how easy is it to install? Any questions or comments that I should know before I start/

the door comes off with screws and plastic rivets, just like any other door. Right now I am ridnig with my skin off befcause my window motor broke . The swtich just unplugs at the harness and it then should match up. If you need more info lemme know, where did you buy the button at?

I found it on ebay for only $20 bucks! Will the new button fall in the door also?

My son's 1992 ES 300 also has the fallen trunk release (and gas release) problem. Did the new switch hold? How difficult was the install once you had the door panel off?

I had a similar problem. My gas tank button depressed and would not spring back up. I took the door panel off and found there is a plastic holder on the bottom of it that was loose. There was no way to glue it back on so I wrapped a piece of wire aroung the whole assembly between the trunk and gas buttons. I then twisted it to tighten it up. The plastic piece on the bottom that came loose is the base for a spring which pushes the button back up after the driver depresses it.

Once you get the door panel off you have to unplug the window button assembly and then the trunk/gas assembly to remove it completely. If you have a brand new assembly you will be able to install it easily.
