Smile 94 ES300 engine surge

I replaced all my vacuum horses and the air filter and now the engine has a miss when the vehicle is not moving but engine running. As soon as I hit the gas pedel it runs smooth. I currently have 190K, did a tune up in summer... Denso plugs. I have had the car checked by my local mechanic and everything checks out fine. However, he suggests that one of the coils might be bad. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

did you have the same problem before?

if not i would have to say it could be the hoses, did you take them off one at a time and tehn replace, or take em all off and replace. what i am trying to get at is one of the hoses may be connected to the wrong thing. just a suggestion

I got the problem then decided to replace the horses, and I went through them one by one.

Cool

On a 2vz/3vz-fe it's on the back of the upper intake manifold

1mz-fe it's on the underside of the tb.

vvt-i engines have no egr. Drive by wire has no idle valve.

Cool

The idle valves?
The throttle plates nearly completely close when you let off the throttle. Obviously, no air get's around them.
What most (non electronic throttle-by-wire) throttles do, is they have a little valve that let's air bypass the throttle plate. In-turn that valve is controlled by the ECU & now you get a smooth, always reliable idle that the ECU can adjust at will!

Most of the time, they eventually clog with carbon (from the EGR system) and start sticking, or don't work as well.
