Garage Door Opener Mod?
I kept searching all morning and cant find who did it. they took the 3 button pod from the 97-2000 models visor and transplanted it into his earlier model. Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated. I pm'd electro0992(or whatever his screen name is to see if he has any tips)

3rdelement, there is a member here who did this mod to his '96 ES. His S/N is squarehat, and he retrofitted the stock mirror from the Nissan 350Z and Infiniti models (i.e. mirror w/ auto-dim, compass and HomeLink features). He posted a pic and installation tips in the following thread. Take a peek

Wow...that thread brings back some good memories , especially the pic from the rear 3/4 with the paint looking great for a car with 100K miles on it.
I haven't been posting around the forums quite as much since I traded it in for a 325i back in March, though I lurk through at least once a week, and chime in when it's an area I had experience with (that mirror conversion project, upholstery repair, etc.)
Those Mille's are still sitting around in a corner of the garage with almost brand new tires--the two that had been on the passenger side had suffered minor bends, and I wasn't sure how to sell them off. Since they're not high-end rims (e.g. HRE, IForged, Work, etc.) I didn't think it was worth it to send them out for repair and then sell them
The wiring of the mirror isn't tough--it's removing the stock Lexus mirror mount that's tough. 97-99's have a universal mount and it's a 15 minute job to install that mirror, end to end. 00 and up have HomeLink and an autodim mirror anyhow (at least the ones that have the leather/moonroof package seem to). However, if you don't need an autodimming mirror w/compass, and just want the HomeLink, the visor module is probably a much easier mod (and you don't have to gamble with cracking your windshield).
