engine check light is on; whatever in the world could be wrong? I'm flummoxed
my 1993 lexus es 300 engine check light just went on? my oil and everything is ok so i was wondering wuts wrong?

in the engine there is a black rectangel connector. if u could jump e1 and te1 and read the flashes for me

Don't even get me started about posting without telling the problem. Not being mean but give us a break... People can't troubleshoot anything if you don't give them a problem, with information.
Find out what the codes are for by Jumping E1 & TE1 in a diagnostic port. Read the code the CEL flashes & look the code up.

He can do this at Autozone for free right? When I was at school at U of I in Champaign/Urbana those guys are just begging to come outside and help since they had nothing to do

It can be your gas cap. Maybe it's off or not on right. Check it, unplug your battery for a few minutes, then see if the check engine light comes back on. It happened to me once.

OK... here are some things that could be a possibility...
Bad O2 sensor.
Bad Knock sensor.
Bad Catalyctic converter.
Low coolant, Over heating.
The 'check engine' light is reserved only for powertrain problems that could have an impact on the emissions systems.
