Default Can I replace the stock head unit and leave the stock speakers!?

1998 ES300 "Premium Lexus Sound"

I need to know if I can replace the stock head unit (LCD starting to bleed) and leave the stock speakers!? I need AUX in and MP3 CD capability.

Heres what I want

1. Replace factory head unit with 1 DIN head unit w/ rear AUX in - connect to factory speakers

2. Remove glovebox CD-changer

3. Install tiny PC into glovebox - Run audio input to AUX in on replacement headunit

I've read through the forum, but can't seem to find anyone who is trying to do this. Will the speakers connect to a typical headunit? Will I run the risk of damaging the factory speakers?

Thanks in advance!

You will probably going to need an aftermarket amp for the rear deck sub, since pretty much all aftermarket H/U's have only 4 channels.

hoebag, where did you find a harness to plug up to the stock one? I've been looking around for a while now and haven't had any luck finding a harness or a dash kit.
