Window Motor/Regulator

Window Motor/Regulator
Well it finally kicked, the window. I have installed regulators before but not quite sure if this is the problem. The window just quit so I disconnected the regulator and plugged the motor back in the plug. I push the button and the motor runs in one direction, but when I push the button the opposite direction, nothing happens. Is this supposed to happen, only work in one direction when not connected to regulator.
Any advice appreciated!
