Go fast parts
Unfortunately, it is rather difficult to get the best of those two worlds together (fast and cheap), but Rod Millen and TRD both have go fast parts for the ES. You can also check with Toyota Team Europe (TTE). I suspect they are going to have the same type stuff as TRD. Have fun!

I just wrote trd and they said they didn't have anything as far as horsepower is concerned for a 96 es. RM is getting back to me, but the ECU upgrade looks like the most they have to offer... I am open to anything that anyone has done to upgrade their ES.

The following adage applies for all cars:
Cheap
Fast
Reliable
You can only choose TWO!
More specifically, nothing outside of a full forced induction setup will make these cars fast enough to warrant money, and those are expensive.
Getting a different air intake or exhaust setup will change how it sounds, but will add MAYBE only a few HP at most.
This car frankly is not a good platform for performance enhancements.

Definite sound difference, also, I can tell the difference in acceleration. But would rather not have it. Like the quieter sound without it. I like the first one I bought, for reliability and good quiet drive.
Needed another car so I bought the second one because I liked the first one so much. Will see how it goes as far as reliability.

honestly its a biggest waste of money you can think of.
makes no sense whatsoever!
save money and buy another car that is actually a better fit for "modding".
p.s. thumbs up for resurrecting 13 year old thread! lol same question, VERY different times... this thread was started pre 9/11.. crazy how world has changed since.

Just pretty much the cold air intake , remove the res or install like a borla exhaust . Other than that they are just nice smooth rides with great acceleration. When you want to go faster just press the ECT button or its time to get a different model haha

yep, if you bought shares of Apple instead of buying average used lexus back in 2001 and drove some "beater" instead- today you'd be a millionaire...
lets say 15K for a used lexus back in 2001 bought you 15k/8$share=1875 shares..
today it is trading at 557$share so you'd be a millionaire ... worth just over ~1,000,000$ .. 15% tax long term gains...you could go out and pick up a nice vintage ferrari and still have 800K+ or so in the bank.
just shows you that daily driver cars especially modding cars is a biggest waste of money, especially if you are young and have extra $$$ saved up - INVEST IT WISELY instead of throwing money on some useless "toys".
You could be driving your dream car down the road....
