tach and speedometer needles

What is the best way to replace the tach & speedometer needles on the console (ie. where to buy and is it a simple replacement)? I have lost the illumination on the top third of both, they appear to work when cold (first 20 - 30 minutes of drive time), but after driving for over 1/2 hour they begin to flicker and die out. (Year-1993 mileage-109,000). Also, occasionally I hear the a whinning noise when I hit the breaks, from inside the cockpit down near the brake peddle, any ideas on this ? If I release the peddle and apply the brakes again the noise goes away.
Thanks in advance!

out of luck...
Ive done some heavy research on the needles, and it seems you are out of luck. Heres the poop:
Lexus dealer will only replace the entire instrument cluster, about $678 to replace it with the speedo and tach gauges in my neck of the woods.
There is one guy in SoCal that will sell you the needles separately, about $150 per needle. There is a high chance that you will ruin, or render inoperable your gauge if you try and just swap needles.
You can get a used instrument cluster from a junkyard for about $300 - $400. This is the best way to go, just make sure it has been tested and is guaranteed. You only need to purchase the top plate of the cluster.
My next step will be to ask the local speedometer shops, sometimes they know things no one else knows. But so far the cheapest, safest route is to get a cluster from a junkyard.

If you would like to send it in to run a diagnostic and do repairs, we can assist you. If the cluster is not repairable,we also help locate a replacement cluster.

Let us know if you have any other questions on the cluster. We are happy to help out with whatever we can for you.
Thanks,
