Sunroof/Moonroof Woes- A Bit of a Problem
I bought this lexus a week ago, and its been great it needed some AC Refridgerant n stuff, but other than that great until tonight when i closed the moonroof i noticed i hear air like noises coming form it i thought maybe someone didnt close there door all way, so after i made everyone reclose thier doors, i began driving again n heard the noise, as i angled the moon roof up it made like a rubber rubbing noise and opened, i know somthing is up, it still open n closed but it seems it doesnt close all the way like to seal shut because i can hear air coming in, i pushed up lightly on it and i can feel the moonroof/sunroof move as if its not tightly locked on the track or wutever. any help with this would help, i dont want water or anything messing up my car so anyone who can help me fix this i would be thankfull too!

It sounds like the rubber gasket that surrounds the glass is all dried up. Lexus sells replacement gaskets that you can install yourself if you're mechanically inclined, otherwise they can change it for you. I don't know what they charge to do this job though.

You have to order this from your Lexus parts dealer. They usually don't stock this part though. Before I would do this you might want to try getting a rubber dressing from an auto supply store. This might quiet the air noise. My '94ES had this problem, slightly, but when I closed the inside shade I didn't hear the air noise.

The ADM (American Domestic Version aka. Chevy) version is to go to Home Depot and buy weather seal from their hardware dept and stick that bad boy on top of the old gasket or window.

the fix for my 96
After opening and closing the roof, my ES has noticable wind noise from the roof.
I found that opening and closing the back of the roof seals up the leak.
Mine has minor leaks in lower doors too, but none at the window area as is often reported. Anyone else have door leaks?
I heard that all new door/window seals cost $700, not including installation.

Actually
I didn't mean Chevy, it should have said Pontiac (GM). I had a 1989 Pontiac Firebird with T-tops. I brought it into the dealership several times just after I bought it because the T-tops would leak in the rain. The only fix they had was to apply weather strip tape since the gaskets they had in-stock were too short for my model. It actually solved the problem, hence my ADM remark. But, no I wouldn't do that to a Lexus. That was my sarcasm at it's worse.
