anyone with a 2000 ES300 have to enter a security code and/or get it from the dealership after disconnecting the radio? just want to be sure before i try this that i won't be held hostage to the tune of $100 or so just to get the factory security code from the stealership...

Hmm, everyone forgets about the real 1ES. This generation car in the pics is a 3ES, not 2ES haha...

All the button backlighting bulbs in the stereo are soldered right onto the circuit board, not in removable sockets.

^^There's 2-3 bulbs in there now, that can be replaced. And this is a challenge since they're a typical size, per say, but they cost 8$/piece to replace and supposedly the only ones that fit.

The other LED's in the console are soldered in, and relatively small.

Here's the stereo-and-A/C-unit cluster I took out.
That link for how to remove the stereo instructions doesn't work ..

they are soldered in and the dealer doesn't sell the bulbs. your best bet would be to replace the cuircut board with the lights in it.....
