Cool Air Questions

Hi, i live in S Florida pretty much live in air conditioning home & car. When i have a chance i like to put my driver side window down. I have 2015 ES350,My question is when i push the off button is this just the fan. On the air i notice the green light recirculated air mode is on to the left of auto. Is the air still on or off? can you turn the air off? Which mode is the best? If the air can't be turned off completely what is the purpose of the putting a window down. (just a joke) i do miss a wing window. The car is new to me i just picked it up with less than 5000 miles. I do have the large owner's manual but i find the answers i have gotten on this forum very informative. thanks

On the ES, there is no dedicated on/off button for the AC compressor on the dash. If you go into the climate control menu, you can turn off the compressor there. If you do so, the fan will continue to operate, as will the heater if it is cold enough, but the compressor will not operate. If you use the Off button on the dash, you will turn off the entire system, including the AC compressor and the fan.

Also note that, if the outside temperature is above about 75 degrees, the climate control system defaults to recirculate mode, and, if you want to use the fresh air mode, you need to manually switch from recirculate to fresh air every time the car is started.
