CPO: Is there value in this case?
I'm looking at a 2013 ES 350 with 61,000km. Aside from the 131 points of inspection, the 2 year/40,000km powertrain warranty (original powertrain warrant good until 2018/110,000kms) gets me one year extra on the powertrain. Am I missing something? I'm sure I'm "paying" for it in the asking price by the dealer.

I'm a bit confused about your conclusion that you would be adding a year to the power train warranty. I see that you are in Canada, and CPO details may be different in Canada than they are in the US, but, in the US, the CPO warranty would extend what is basically the 4 year, 50,000 mile bumper-to-bumper warranty by 2 years or to a total of 100,000 miles. Typically, in the US, I would expect that the CPO warranty is adding about $1,500-2,000 to the price of the car. Even though dealers are technically not supposed to do so, many dealers will be willing to reduce the price of the car in exchange for removing the CPO warranty coverage. The ES is a very dependable vehicle. The chances of you, with the CPO warranty, collecting on over $1500 in covered repairs are slim, but it could happen.

lesz,
I too thought the CPO pertained to the bumper to bumper. But the way I read what's in the link, it's only the powertrain that's covered under the 2 year/40,000km.

Yep, you'd think it would be the same. It's pretty clear from the link that it ain't. So...it appears that there are different criteria for Lexus CPO in Canada compared to the U.S.
