I've been shopping around in the land of CA and managed to get this offer on a 2017 ES300h (2016 inventory is very low for the combinations I want).

MSRP $48500
Sales Price $42800

How is that for a 2017. Should I wait around for the upcoming Lexus winter sales event in around two months?
There don't seem to be many 2017 incentives around (which is probably not surprising given the new model year is just starting).

That seems pretty good for a 2017 right at the start of the new model year - 12% off msrp.

Since there are still a few 2016s around, thats pretty good for the 2017!

not bad at all! if you found a 2016 that you wanted, it would have $3500 off on top of that. But for 2017, I would assume that is probably about as good as you can get?

If you need a car now, sounds great!
But yes, by the "december to remember" sale, there will be some incentives...

Similar thing happened to me when buying my wife's Acura RDX a few years ago. We were hoping to get a great deal on an outgoing model year, but at the time we needed it, the inventory was low and couldn't quite get the color we wanted. But when we hemmed and hawed about that at the dealership and mentioned we might keep looking around, they made a nice deal on the new year's model!
