Cracked Winshield Advice

Update: had the windshield replaced this past Friday. All went well and all the features related to the windshield seem to be working fine. Shop replaced with OEM with same DOT code as the original which they sourced from a local Lexus dealer. Total cost was just shy of $1300 of which we paid $100 deductible. For all you SoCal folks, OC Windshields located in Anaheim did the work and were very professional and detailed completing the job - they have very high Yelp reviews and I highly recommend them.
Thanks to everyone who offered their input - it helped immensely.

Ok - it happened - car just turned over 1k miles and we took an incoming rock on the windshield today. Impacted extreme driver side edge and caused two major cracks originating from point of impact - one over a foot long and the other about 6 inches. Safelite is gonna come out to replace but mentioned we may need the dealer to adjust lane departure cameras.
Does anyone have any experience to share or advice to offer? Any pitfalls to watch out for?
Thanks in advance, Bill G

Not on this ES, but on two other Lexus I used Pilkington and had no issues whatsoever. They supply glass for both Toyota and Lexus.
I'm sure an OEM windshield is best, but know I would not go out of pocket on one.

I had to replace my windshield. Went the Toyota dealer route. Paid $500 deductible. Everyone wanted me to have a non-OEM windshield, three different glass dealers said it was extra for the Toyota OEM. So I just went to my Toyota place. Non OEM is not a 100% clone of OEM by the way.
Good luck!
