Default Wires chewed on NEW ES350

I am between a few dealers on purchasing a new 2016 ES350 so just to be extra cautious, I logged in to the Lexus Driver site and pulled up the service history on my 1st choice. At 5 miles it shows "Check engine light is on, tech tested and found Code PO 393.....Bank 2 exhaust cam position sensor wire chewed through. Tech also found coil wire to #4 cylinder chewed into. Tech repaired both wires and retested. When I test drove the car had like 45 miles on it.

I don't know engines........so......is this something I should be worried about or am I making a mountain out of a mole hill? Concerned there may be something else going on.

Thanks.

This on a brand new car? Sounds like a mouse took up residence for awhile. Probably not a big deal but if it was me spending that kind of money buying a "new" car, I'd definitely pass on it.

When I bought my car, new on the lot, some of the wires were chewed when they did their final inspection. They had to claim warranty and get it fixed--that took a month due to silly Lexus legal paperwork mumbo-jumbo. I was bummed I had to wait a month for my car, but I like it--and all is well. Anyway, I did some research and found out the plastic that is used to wrap wires in cars these days has some peanut butter proteins or something like that. Hence, the plastic tastes good to critters. So I figure we'll see this more and more. My wife has made me park my car in the garage all the time (yea!?) 'cause she doesn't want it out on the street for critters to come hunting for--heck, she even cleaned out the garage to make room! Anyway, that's what I know, FWIW.

I would pass, unless you are getting some sort of discount that outweighs the risk.

Yeah, I'd pass on this car too unless there is something real special about the car or the deal. I would just be worried that there are some other wires that were chewed but not enough to cause a code "yet".

If it was local, I would not be as worried but I would be buying it out of town. Therefore, any issues I would have to go back to the dealer (about 2 hours) where I bought it. I did drive it earlier this week and no issues but this makes me a little worried. Been a bear trying to find color combo and deal I can live with. Maybe all these people in CA and TX saying they got $10K off sticker is making me crazy. Not going to be able to get that within 3-4 hours of my geography.

I would pass. You are buying a new ES350. There are plenty of choices. There's no need to settle on one where you know has had a problem.

It's not really a big deal, I'm sure it happens a lot.

But, plenty of other cars on the lot id pass on this one.

Given the distant away, I'd definitely pass on it. Don't worry about the deals others have gotten just use them as a guide. Getting your best deal for your area should be good enough. I'm in CA and didn't quite get 10k off but I'm happy with my deal and the car. I'm not losing sleep over a $1k left on the table because I got the exact car I wanted and in the grand scheme of things it's not a big deal.
