The service manager just told me they replaced the "gateway ECU," no other parts. Said someone from Lexus came in to do it. Quite honestly, I'm not sure he (service mgr) completely understands it himself. They still have the car. We'll probably get it back tomorrow.

There seems to be a lot of smoke and mirrors around this stuff.

How long have you been trouble free? Another poster indicated that they never fully fix electrical issues and I should get rid of it.

BTW, it has 22k miles on it and is pristine. Has never seen ice, snow, salt.

Thanks.
It is separate from the ECU from what they told me. It controls things like the interior lights, how long accessories stay on, etc. I think it has been over a year now and the car has sat for a week or two at times and fires right up. I would not get rid of it, great car. We have 40k on ours and is great.

That's what he told me, "accessories," etc. he definitely called it "gateway ECU."

I'm glad yours is working fine. Is it also a 2013?

Never heard of the term Gateway ECU myself, so I looked it up:

Seems legit. There are a lot of systems in the car running different communication protocols. Hopefully this fixes your problem if this part is indeed drawing power.

OP reporting back...let the car sit for 3 full days as a test. Started right up!! Yay!

Thanks, all, for your comments and suggestions. You really helped me in dealing with the condescending service guy. Persistence paid off.

"Normal." Huh!

Congrats! Mine sat for 7 days last week and started. I'm still waiting to see how it does in a year or so. Best of luck!

Make sure you don't have anything plugged into your Cigarette Lighter ports when you aren't using the car.

It shouldn't matter as the outlets are not powered when the car is off.

I just returned from a month-long trip where the Lexus sat the entire time. It started right up on its almost 2-year old battery. Glad you got yours straightened out.

That's what I used to think, but I left a battery charger plugged into my DC 12V, it drained the battery within a week of not using the car.

Mine drains in a week w/o anything plugged in. Maybe you have an ES with the ECU issue, like me.

I just purchased a 2013 ES350 with 1550 miles on it. Drove it home and 2 days later it wouldn't start. Put the battery charger on it and got it to start and then took it into the Lexus dealership. They told me the battery was dead and charged it. After reading all these posts makes me upset. Lexus should fix this problem as so many owners are having this problem. Since the battery is almost 4 yrs old I'll replace it with an interstate battery and see if that fixes the problem and as so many of you've recommended I'll make sure the FOB's are stored away from the car. I was thinking about purchasing another one but this make me nervous. This is my first Lexus, as I've always been a Mercedes owner, but if this continues to be a problem try again to get the dealer to fix the problem. I've owned over 50 cars and never had a problems like this.

The battery should be load tested before replacing it. It may not be bad. My 2015 ES350 has sat for 2 weeks with no battery issues.I am not sure the fob has anything to do with it as my fob is about 15 feet away from the car when in the garage.
