Default Diecast 2016 ES300h 1:18 scale

I was surprised to find a diecast ES300h on ebay and amazon. Even though it is not a 2013 I chose to order one because its rare to find an ES diecast model. I placed an order for a champagne colored model for $180 plus $30 shipping from china. I might take it to my local hobby shop to find someone who can paint it to match my Nebula Gray.

That is really cool - I wonder what are the chances that front license/sign can be removed. And if I wait until someone gets one and can tell me for sure they may all be gone.

I have a large 1:18 scale die cast collection but a quality model in the right color and year for my car is rare. But there is nothing on the front of mine.

The listing doesn't show the manufacturer. AutoArt usually produces the GS, LS, IS and RX. The ES is usually left out. I don't know if the fit and finish will be like an AutoArt model but I doubt AutoArt has plans to produce an ES in the future. A couple of years ago I purchased a Honda CRV that was also listed as a "dealer model" from China. It had plenty of moving parts, good amount of detail and felt in the trunk space.

It looks like it has a detailed interior

Today I received my diecast model. If you try to remove the license plate you will have a raised rectangular piece of plastic. The center console and rear armrest can be moved. The trunk space has felt and a spare tire underneath the cover. I don't know the mfr, but you will see that this is a part that is sold at the dealerships in China. There is alot of detail in the interior, buttons for the hood release and trunk have a small image just like our cars.

Now I am debating on painting the car because if I paint it I will lose the door sill and the sticker emblems. If I paint the interior black, I will lose alot of the details. I am really impressed with the model, I think the interior is up to par with AutoArt models.

Check out the center console and rear armrest.

Thanks for the information on removing the license plate - that is kind of what I expected.

As for painting the car to match yours - I have done that one time with good results for about $300. Another time with my first Lexus LS, I completely disassembled the car and gave it to a painter and never saw it (or the painter) again - I still have all the parts in a box waiting but after 20 years I don't believe it is going to happen. You might be better off to just hope they do the model in your color at some point.

I don't imagine that I'd ever be inclined to spend $200+ for a model of a car, but I do have to say that it looks pretty darn neat.

I just placed an order for my autumn shimmer model, it's a gift for my nephew. Can't wait to see how legit this thing is.

For those interested in obtaining an exact model of their car including factory paint and accessories, I found this info in my Car and Driver magazine. Cost about $250.00.
