If it helps, I got ES 350, luxury package, Nebula grey with light grey interior, machined rims, espresso birds eye maple wood trim, list price $44.5k. I put $2000 down, Lexus gave me $1000 rebate, dealer gave $4500 discount, Lexus offered 1st month payment and paid $5.25% of the 6.25% tax, plus they paid title and license/registration. I was tier 2 because I've never financed anything before and my monthly is $501. Keep in mind, my state charges full value tax on leased cars. So Lexus USA paid 5.25% of the agreed sale price of $40k. Not like most states where you only pay tax on the portion of the sale lease price.

What I'm saying is there are some good deals out there. If you're Tier 1, then your payment should be in the low $400 range/month on a lease.

Hope this helps.

Just FYI- the dealer didn't pay a portion of the tax, and they didn't cover any of those fees. They simply wrapped them into the lease in such a way that you couldn't see them.

The dealer didn't pay the tax and registration. Lexus USA did. It was a March offer on 2016 ES. I have the paperwork.

I'd like to see the paperwork on that. Your payment is high anyways, so somehow that's built into the deal whether it's in the money factor or whatever.

You said you were tier 2, what is your credit score?

I bet they inflated the MF to hide the profit that they used to pay all of that stuff for you. I've been leasing cars a long time, and I've leased a bunch of Lexus cars and I have never seen a promotion where they will pay some portion of the sales tax or registration fees.

I'm a current Toyota sales consultant *3 years and previous Lexus consultant *5 years.

It's actually illegal for any dealership to pay any tax or reg fees just as it is illegal to profit off of those items. If a consultant tells you this it should be considered a red flag that he believes you're a sucker..

I'm not up to date on Lexus lease break downs, but I can tell you a Avalon Limited leases out comparable to an ES350.. At $44K w/MF of .00021 *tier 1+ 720+ Credit score = $2K down bout $410-$430 per month depending on which state/city tax you're subject to.

Long story short is sounds like a great deal.. 10% off MSRP and a $501 payment @ tier 2 is pretty good, but don't buy into that "we'll cover this tax" or "We'll par that fee"...

That's smoke and mirrors and should make you wary..

.
But what they can do legally is to lower the selling price of the vehicle by an amount that would offset the sales tax.

May i ask you an off topic question? i saw where you work at Toyota now. i bought a 2016 Lexus ES 350 from a dealer 2 hours away, as I live in a small town. I told them and he knew... I wouldnt be coming there just for oil changes as thats not practical. I do however have from them a dent and ding package that the Sales Mgr told me would be honored by a Toyota Dealer if i just showed them the paperwork.. Hope this is true..
