I contacted Customer Service to find out whether my 2007 or 2013 ES350-s have Takata airbags. The response was that Lexus does not know which manufacturer's airbags are in which cars but that the recalled cars have a different Takata code than the ones in my ES350s. When I requested that this be in writing all I received from Lexus was an e-mail stating that my two ES350s are not in a recall. They refuse to provide in writing what they say over the phone. Apparently they can only state that these cars are not currently being recalled, per instructions from their legal department.
Not a very comforting attitude.

Not sure what else you'd expect, thats a typical corporate response.

Toyota is not going to give you any assurances that their airbags here not affected because its still an ongoing thing, the list of airbag models affected keeps expanding. All they're going to be able to tell you is that they are not currently affected.

I agree. It's unrealistic to think Corporate would issue written assurance to an individual owner, unless it's part of a widespread corporate approved initiative It's best to keep an eye on the recall issue and see what models are effected.
