Missing Key FOB ( Remote )
Hello,
I just bought a pre-owned lexus car. However, it has only one key. What options do I have to get a second key fob ( remote ) ?
(1) Dealership -- Approximate how much does it cost?
(2) I saw ebay listings, the folks were selling the fob -However, it requires "re-programming" which requires dealership or from professional locksmith -- How much does it cost for this task?
(3) Any other option?

Best and most expensive option is to go the dealer and get a replacement. Buying one off ebay does not guarantee that it can be programmed to your car, in fact, it probably can't.
The important thing is to do this before you lose the only key fob you have - then it really gets expensive.

I'd compare the cost thru a locksmith - they have all the codes - and then thru the dealer. Don't know of any other viable options. I definitely wouldn't go the Ebay route. Either way it will cost big $$$.

This doesn't answer your particular question but will give you an idea.
About 8-years ago I had to buy a 2nd key for a BMW smart-key. It was $225 and they required that you show your vehicle registration to prove ownership. I would imagine the Lexus key would go around the same price. They are smart-keys and I would only suggest doing this at a dealership and not through eBay.
