Curiously, even though the LS is a larger vehicle than the ES and even though many/most of the interior dimensions of the LS are bigger than those of the ES, the ES is actually roomier than the LS in some dimensions and, in particular, in rear seat leg room.

It's not correct to state that the GS a "considerably smaller vehicle than the ES, both inside and outside". They are very similar in size with most dimensions being slightly larger on the GS. Where the ES excels is in rear seat legroom, as correctly noted.
