2013 & 2014 ES did not have Lexus Enform Remote (LER),
Remote Engine Start (RES) was $500 once for the fob only, works forever

2015 ES with Navigation has LER free for 12 months, fob and phone
Pay for what you use, if you want to continue it's $220/yr, fob and phone
2015 Non-Nav is not equipped, see 2013/14 above...

2016 ES both Nav & Non-Nav are LER

Forgot to mention that my 2015 ES 350 does NOT come with Nav, it is the base model but does come with the fob remote start.

I work with this stuff everyday so ill add my $0.02,

2013 had no factory remote start. key fob remote start is an add on feature for those ones
.
2014 had the RES+ option but it had to be installed and was a pain in the butt to activate. I don't miss it lol, the system is now obsolete.

2015 has the LER system, Lexus Enform Remote, on select models, and its gotta have Navi, with the LER system the key fob starter will work with a 2015, but its tied in with the LER system and will go away when the system is deactivated.

2016 ES has the LER system standard across all models and trim. also has the key fob starter with LER.

hope this helps

Check this post as I have RES+ on my '13 ES and it works fine. It is an option as the RES+ module needs to be installed in the car. Also there may still be some dealers who have them in stock. You will have no RES or RES+ until this is installed which means that the FOB will not work. All the info is in this post.

All 2015 ES vehicles do not have the remote start. It is only for the 2016 model year that they all have the remote start. Read earlier posts in this thread for the details.

But my mother's specific car does have the remote start through her key fob as long as she pays for the enform subscription.

Lexus screwed this feature up since inception. You must have Enform, you don't need Enform, works with a key fob, don't work without paying, works with key without paying, works on this MY, don't work on this MY. Whew!
What a mess!

I suspect that Lexus figured out that they could increase their profit margins by including the hardware for the remote start on all of the ES vehicles and requiring a paid subscription to use it. My guess is that the cost of putting the necessary hardware on all vehicles is minimal, and, if they can get a typical ES owner to buy the subscription for even a year or two, they will more than recover the cost of putting the hardware in all of the cars.

I'm in agreement with you on this one. My mother and my father figured that this is a way for Lexus to make more money.

1) It is an easy add that only folks that want the feature(s) have to pay for.

2) Rather than pay upfront you pay as you go.

3) You don't lose anything when you turn in your lease.

Why get up in arms over features that work this well and are
comparatively inexpensive compared to buying hardware
at the time of purchase?

We pay plenty of money each year for cable/sat/internet each year to
provide continuing service to devices that cost hundreds of dollars...
What is the angst over paying $220 year to keep a $45k + car working?

Ken7:
You do not have to hold the lock button down. Hit it once to lock the car. Hit it twice after that, without holding the button down, the lights will flash twice and the car will start up. No need to hold the button. However, I was pleasantly surprised it came with this feature. Toyota/Lexus has not perfected this art. Ford allows you entry to the vehicle without having to restart.

By the way, my ES drives much smoother than my RX I previously owned.

Ok, not to belabor this question. ;-)

I have an ES 250 2016 w Nav and I think it has the 'Enform App' thingy. Do I first have to call Lexus (or use that SOS button thing?)
to get remote start activated from the key fob. I'm not a big smart phone user, and I'll soon be switching cell phone models, so I don't yet
want to set anything up on this cell phone.

Can I just use the key fob to start the car? :-)
