Carpet in front of front seat
We just took delivery of a 2015 ES 350, and the carpeting in front of the front passenger seat has a flap exposing the frame number, etc. Is this correct? It certainly appears incorrect. We appreciate your help very much. Ned

Well after reading your post I went out to my car and looked at mine. Although I have a 2013, I assume that it is the same. There is a black plastic plate fastened by clips under the passenger seat front. Under the plate is the frame number and a piece of carpet cut to expose the stamped number. It is not randomly cut, but perfectly cut around the stamping and completely covered when the plastic plate is snapped in on both sides.
Hope this description helps you and I want to welcome you to Club Lexus where you can find answers to most anything by the other (smart) members. Good Luck with your new car.

I just saw your photo and it looks like the carpet flap simply needs tucking under the plate. Unsnap the plate, tuck in the carpet and snap it back in place. The side closest to driver side must be slipped into the groove and the other side simply snaps in with pressure.

My thanks to you both that replied to my message. You are both exactly right! In no time I slid this flap under the metal plate, and all is well.
I look forward to reading and participating in this foum in the future. Our three day old car is of course a real thing of beauty and we look forward to many miles of pleasure. The owners manual is of course daunting and we will slowly work our way through it. Thanks again. Ned
