HELP! LOST Key Fob 2013 350ES
I simply cannot understand how I've searched this car for two days and cannot find my only key. It has to be IN the car, correct, in order for it to start? I have no idea what more to do or where to look. The car is starting...but I can't lock it. It has not been turned off away from the garage yet. Tomorrow is Monday, and I have to go to work. ANY ideas or thoughts?? I have no idea what to do.

I know this is going to be a long shot, but have you checked the crevices under and to the right/left of the driver seat? And yes it's correct that it should be within the proximity of the push start for it to start. Please update us

I did everything but tear up the carpet...and I'm short enough to actually fit down, look under the seats with a flashlight and fit my hands under and even get the light to shine up under the passenger and driver seats some. THIS story...is gonna be fun. I will let you know. There's a key in there somewhere...but where, how did it get there, and how do I find it?

Your question that the key has to be IN the car for it to be started is incorrect. The key must be in close PROXIMITY to the vehicle for it to start. Maybe the key isn't in the car but under or around it. Do this by the numbers: 1.The car starts so a key is somewhere close or inside the car. 2. Try to remember when you last parked the car and couldn't find the key. Were you in or outside the car? Could it be in the crevice where the seatback meets the seat? A bag as previously suggested? A coat pocket? In the visor?

If the car beeps when you try to lock it, the fob should be in the car somewhere. If it was on the outside it would lock with the touch button on the door handle.

Drive the car out of the garage or where ever its parked now and shut it off. If it will restart then you have proof the fob is inside the car and not on the ground or a close by the previous spot. Use the other fob to restart it if it wont start after being moved, assuming you know where the second fob is?
Are you sure its not in some odd pocket of your clothing? Have someone else try to start the car while you stand way back.
Have you looked inside the console storage bin, cup holders, door pockets, seat back pockets, glove box, under rear seat cushion?
Did the dog swallow it?

There's only one fob Nelexus. The other one was lost as well...

I have been thinking about this thread throughout the day and thinking of places that it might be. Have you checked your engine bay. Maybe you were looking at something and left the key somewhere under the hood? Just a thought is all.

Neither my IS nor my RX will start without the key physically inside the car - near it doesn't count. Sounds to me like it's in there somewhere. I had this happen once. Turns out I left the key fob in the pocket of my coat in the trunk.
Good luck!

As other have stated, the key has to physically be in the car. It simply won't start outside of the car. Obvious places, cup holders, coin holder on dash, back seat storage, storage areas in trunk, glove box, in the seat, etc.
