You mean ES350.
More than likely, it would be the same as throwing money away. You never know, though.

Agreed, unless you get it for a real steal, otherwise your Lexus will likely need nothing for many, many miles.
A better idea is to self-warranty by placing the $ you would have otherwise spent on the warranty in a bank account. Then pay for service using those funds.

Save your money, don't buy one and do what pab12 said. These programs are high profit segments for dealers.

so I got addition 3 years for 1480$s for platinum warranty till 2021 . I had bad experience with my Merc E320 which could only drive till 74K miles and parts and labour were quite expensive

So, the lesson is consider buying extended warranty on Merc . Lexus is still known for reliability over all

Anyways, on a benz, you're required to have a warranty past about 3 years. On a Lexus, it's not.

I passed on mine. I bought my 2013 es 350 with 15k on it. It was already CPO...the dealer tried to slip the platinum in there. At an additional $50 a month...I was like tap the brakes there mr. dealer man.
I bought a lexus due to a recommendation from two very trusted friends. One of which is an auto mechanic the other writes loans for a major credit union for cars.
Both told me it's the very best bang for the buck in luxury sedans. So when the dealer tried the platinum plan...I flat out said "I thought that I was buying an extremely reliable car...AND it's CPO already...how would this platinum plan make sense?"
Dealer was kind of stopped in his tracks...backpedaling...there was my answer.

I have owned 3 ES's. I have 2013 now. My other 2 didn't have problems until they had 200K miles at which time the warranty wouldn't help you. An even then it was small things like relays and the regulator on the door. I believe that the regulator was about $180 to fix and the relay was about $120 to fix. Save your money.

J D Power ranks Lexus #1 in depedability for four years in a row. Consumer Reports just ranked Lexus #1 in reliability for the second straight year. Save your money and go with the odds.

I would not listen to these clowns, like every other machine made you really dnt know what and when something can go wrong with your car and I assure you it will cost more than the warranty to fix and the guys that give you this terrible advise will be no where around to help u pay the bill. While lexus makes great cars all mechanical parts have a service life and some will fail before that time that's the only fact you can count on . 1500 dollars is a bargain for 3 or 4 years of piece of mind . If it was a very old car I would say put the money in a fund but a fairly new new lexus is very expensive to fix. GET THE WARRANTY.

Strictly a personal choice/preference. One size doesn't fit all. Personally, I prefer to keep the money in my pocket. There's no right or wrong answer.

The greater percentage is with the dealer who sells the extended warranty. Do things go wrong? Yes, but not usually within 3-4 years with average mileage. However, listen to Lexbob2 as his post makes sense and is correct; there is no right or wrong answer to this question. If you'll sleep better knowing that you're protected then go for it. Otherwise slip a few bucks into a "warranty account" when you can and you'll have the money for repairs if needed and it's earning (a little) interest. BTW we're not clowns but fellow members trying to help...

Listen you guys are giving this guy bad advise. I just bought a 2012 toyota and within 3 mnths something was wrong with one of the door locks . Cost to fix about 900 Dollars, luckily it was under warranty. Thyre clowns because they are giving irrational advise in my opinion. Bottom line is u dont knw. I repaired appliances for sears at one point in time and can say tht all the best brands have defects some just less than others. I used to feel sorry for the poor souls who had to pay 125 just for me to come to their house to only diagnose the problem with the appliance. Bottom line is most repairs of a lexus will cost you a few hundred dollars eaisily. It's obviously your choice but hope u make the right one and as a side note I was offered a warranty when I bought my ES but declined it however as soon as the factory warranty runs out I Will purchase an extended one.
