Lexus PCS safety recall certain 2013-2015 ES 350 and ES300h
Lexus USA has announced a safety recall of certain 2013-2015 model year ES 350 and ES 300h sedans due to an issue with the Pre-Collision System — from the press release:
In the involved vehicles, under certain situations, the PCS (Pre-Collision System) could interpret a steel joint or plate in the roadway as an object that triggers PCS activation. If this occurs, the PCS warning buzzer sounds and the system may apply the service brake automatically. Unexpected braking could increase the risk of a crash.
For all involved vehicles, the PCS function will be disabled as an interim remedy. As the permanent remedy, Toyota dealers will replace PCS components with improved ones.

Both of mine are part of the recall.

I have a friend with a 2010 Prius with PCS and it has this exact problem. Theyre probably going to have to do a wider recall. Luckily for me, the 1st gen PCS in my 2004 LS430 is totally fine and is almost 12 years old!

You are correct, the 16's are NOT affected. It also covers the Toyota Avalon model (about 24,000) with PCS.
Looks like there are not many 2013 - 2015 Lexus ES vehicles with PCS, just a few thousand. Those of us on the recall of will get new updated hardware once it is available.

I find the interim remedy in the description to be funny:
As an interim remedy, any authorized Lexus dealer will turn off the PCS system and affix a notification label to the vehicle informing the customer that their PCS system has been turned off as a temporary remedy at NO CHARGE to the vehicle owner.
One only needs to find and push the PCS button in the glove compartment to deactivate the PCS. When deactivated, a "PCS" light will appear on your dash indicating PCS has been deactivated. There is no need to go to the dealer for this at all, and definitely they should not be charging customers for simply pushing a button. I wonder what kind of notification label they will affix to the vehicle

The sticker is some legal thing, I presume. I do have the problem on my '14 ES PCS. They'll probably auto-fix it next time I take it in for whatever anyway. Hey, this is funny. I have a copy of the original sales sticker--I like to keep those. I used that to note record my VIN. Well, I've been having issues with the VIN not working. Long story short, I just discovered the sales sticker has xxxx59996 but the actual VIN is xxxx5996. The sales sticker has one too many "9"s. Ha!

Jollick thank you for this heads up. Now can you explain how you knew this information before my "trusty alerts" from consumer reports I might as well sign up with you....

Not sure, but that would be nice to get the pedestrian sensing. I use my auto/radar cruise control every day, it takes so much stress out of the daily ride to and from work. I have not received the official recall in the mail yet and had my 2013 in for the 25,000 mile service. They did not say anything about it and they did not turn the PCS off.

We got our recall notice today, says they will turn off PCS and put a label on the car about it (is the label over the switch? Or can I turn it back on so I can at least use my radar cruise?)
Also says they arent sure of a fix just yet but would contact us once they have one in place.
Since it doesnt include the 2016 models youd figure their s/w and or h/w is better somehow....would be really neat to see them upgrade us as the fix. The fact that it seems to be happening to a lot of models, not just the ES, makes me wonder if thats their easiest way out (if its even possible)
