Default High mileage on lease!

Hello,

I mistakenly negotiated 10k/36 month. And it's about my 3rd month into the lease and I'm already over by a month's worth. I'll be paying .25c/mile for each mile over 30,000 which is quiet allot of mileage and will cost me allot of money.

Is there anyway out of this?

Probably not - you might contact Lexus Financial and inquire but I think your only way out might be to try to trade it on something else as you approach 36K miles. It might work because you will have a relatively new car which may have good value even with 36K.

Depending on your sale person, if you buy/lease another new car with them they can waive some of the fees such as slight damage and mileages. If you decide you don't want another Lexus and go with a different brand (ex.bmw,MBenz,Audi) than they will tack on every fee they can to get your money.

At the time you trade it in, if the car's value is higher than the payoff amount, you can just turn it in as a trade, at which point mileage over lease terms won't matter (it's considered a used-car trade, not a lease return). You can keep an eye on your value vs payoff, and if it gets close to going into the red, you can pull the trigger and go for a trade. That's what I always do, and have never paid for going over on miles.

Buy a beater and drive the ES only on occasion. Beaters don't really depreciate so you're only really spending money on insurance.

Or wait a year or two and turn the lease into a purchase.

JDR76 is correct, strong resale value of Lexus make his answer pretty common.

LexRuger's idea reminded me of a coworker that bought a better beater, an sturdy
old Pick Up truck. "You never know how many friends you have til you buy a P/U!"
He still has the truck and has probably had 4 leased cars since

Keep in mind that your payments would of been 50 or so dollars a month more in a 15k lease so you figure you would of paid about 1800 bucks extra anyway.
That being said,
You only pay the mileage if you turn the car in at the end this is the lease disposition.
If you can avoid the disposition, you will not pay the mileage charges.
So your options are to buy the car from Lexus at the end. Or, hope there is a pull ahead and turn it in early and buy another lexus. Or, shop a new Lexus early and have lexus buy out the lease.
Or, with six months left go to another car brand and trade the car in with them. They will be motivated to gain you as a customer and will buy your lease out to get you into one of their cars, assuming your car is kept in good condition.
