If diesel was cheaper than regular unleaded like it was when I was a kid, I'd probably want to go that route.

The base model ES 350 I brought came with leather steering wheel and leather shift ***...did not upgrade for them. They do made the car feel sportier then wood grain/leather combo...feel like driving F series Lexus as they have all leather steering & ***.

Sounds like finding a four leaf clover! I hear the leather wheels are more common in other countries than the US.

If by four leaf clover you mean an ES350 with absolutely no options. Thats the ES that comes with an all leather wheel. We're talking halogen headlights...

A base no option ES350? Wow, indeed a 4 leaf clover, but I'm not sure if I'd want one.

I'll be picking up a car towards the end of this year - I still would love the ES to offer an all leather steering wheel.

i for one like the smooth feel of the wood, and the hand warmers do just fine for those cold mornings.

Perhaps because you live in Georgia - I don't recall a lot of snow days when I was there in the winter.

Yes I do, but I still use the wheel warmer on the cold mornings this time of year.

I live in Chicago. The wheel warmer works great for me, too. I would consider it a downgrade if it had an all leather wheel.

I put wheelskins over my wheel. 2 actually to make it a bit thicker and softer.

I think wood is slippery. and sure I don't want a slippery wheel.

Lexus does the typical auto maker thing of screwing people with options. I've got a base car with the all-leather steering wheel, black/white LCD, no memory seats or warmers, but with HIDs and seat extender and piano-black trim instead of wood. It's like someone in Toyota City comes up with random trim loadouts for each country.

When it comes to a bit of corner hoonage, the leather wheel is perfect. There's plenty of grip all around without the slippery wood rim.

I've had the wood/leather wheel in Lexus cars now for 18 years, I don't find it slippery. I don't carve corners in my cars, and I suspect most ES drivers don't either. That's why the F Sport models have an all leather wheel.
