Default Side Mirrors ...

Yesterday a friend drove my 2013 ES350 and adjusted all the mirrors and seat to his preference. When I got back in to drive, I pushed the buttons to return to my settings. But now when in reverse, the side mirrors do not tilt downward, they revert to his settings. How do I undo this?

I believe you have to leave the switch that selects right or left mirror on either right or left and not on center to activate it.

That is correct. The mirrors only move to a lower position when the vehicle is in reverse if the mirror adjustment switch is left in the position to adjust either the left or right mirror. With the switch in the center position, the mirrors will not change their position when the vehicle is put into reverse.

Check your owners manual for a diagram, additional information etc.

To change the reverse mirror position, shift into reverse, adjust the mirrors down to where you want them then hit the set plus memory button.

A detail has bothered me since I read that last week.... I apologize for being picky, but I think this particular thing needs the safety advice... I have visions of cars reversing into stationary objects while the drivers are adjusting the mirrors.

To change the reverse mirror position, PUT YOUR FOOT ON THE BRAKE, shift into reverse, adjust the mirrors down to where you want them then hit the set plus memory button.

I don't think you can shift into reverse without putting your foot on the brake first.

Just curious as to why the mirror switch has to be in the left or right position to get the mirrors to move down when in reverse. Is this a safety issue?

I'm guessing it is just to give the driver the quick option of activating it or not, rather than having a separate switch for it.

That would be my guess as well.
