Default Noise when the car come to a complete stop

Hi,

I have noticed that my car do a noise when I brake and it come to a halt. It's hard to describe, but it's sound like "put". A little bit like a shock noise, but my shock doesn't make any noise when I go over bump. I had a loaner car while my car was in for rattles, and there was no noise like that.

Anybody know what it could be? It's not very loud, but still I notice it.

There's a lot of weight transferred, when you brake, to the front suspension, tends to cause a 'squat'. Somehing in the suspension making the sound as it returns to normal height? Does it happen when you break in reverse?

You could try to place your weight on each front corner, depressing the suspension and listen

I think I know the sound you are describing -- my car does the same thing. I think it is a bushing being unloaded in the suspension, after being loaded during the braking. It happens after I stop with enough braking force to make the front suspension squat. Gentle braking, almost coasting to a stop, doesn't do it.

Suspension and brake components do move, and do make sound.

In a car with a regular gasoline engine, there is so much engine noise that people rarely notice the other sounds.

In a hybrid, when the gas engine is off, there is none of that engine noise. That makes it easier to hear the other sounds.

Hi,

It doesn't take an hard braking to hear it, it do it nearly each time, I will ask my dealer about that.

It could be your brake pads. After a few more miles, the brake noises tend to settle down after being broken in.

His car was bought used and had about 6000 miles on it when it was bought. So, it should be well beyond any break in period.
