Default Lexus Enform with Safety Connect Renewal

I haven't had the need to use Destination Assist or eDestination much, and could do without these features. But I do like to use the apps, and in particular Pandora, and I was under the impression that these were "free" now.

Is it possible to only renew the "Lexus Safety Connect" feature, without ordering it with Destination Assist or eDestination? I ask because recently I received a letter from Lexus, only giving me the choice of ordering "Lexus Enform with Safety Connect" for 1, 2, 3, or 4 years. There was no option to order Lexus Safety Connect by itself.

Can you guys clarify this for me?

Thanks in advance.

Steve

I don't have it handy, but there should be an 800 number that you can call. They'll be able to answer your question as well as give you the price if you can get just the Safety Connect subscription. They've been helpful in the past when I called them.

Yes, i believe you can. There's a price for each, and a price for both at a slight discount. I think the info is on the Lexus web site.

Arty101 and LexBob2, thanks. I'll find that 800 number and give them a call.

I renewed recently for only one year. I renewed only because I tend to sell my cars often (sometimes). I like the idea since I live in the desert.Anything can happen on those long and lonely and dark roads. It's peace of mind for me knowing it's there.

Wouldn't your cell phone do the same thing, other than the auto dial during deployment of the airbags?

if so can we just renew the enform w/o the safety connect?

The entire App Suite is now free. You can continue to use those apps without a fee.

eDestination isn't free and it was the only thing I really used a lot. I haven't renewed - I can't justify thet annual subscription rate - but I do miss that one feature. As mentioned, Pandora, iHeart, Bing, and the other apps in the app suite work without the paid subscription.

I used eDestination and Destination Assist all of the time in my ES so I begrudgingly renewed. They were of value to us, but I can see if one doesn't use them much they're probably not worth it.

I love eDestination (Destination Assist not so much), but 286/year is too steep for the eDest convenience. I now just put my addresses in thru Bing in the car or enter them directly into the Nav..

I believe that they sell a 5 year plan that may discount the cost a bit. I like Safety Connect, which can be purchased separately, for the piece of mind and with the Stolen Vehicle Location service, you get a discount on your auto insurance, same as LoJack.

atoyota, how does that work through Bing? Does it somehow add the destination to the Nav without manual entry?

Yes. If you search for the name of a restaurant, theater, some other business or venue in Bing you can add the address of the selected found result as a destination and set the Nav to it. I prefer to do it from my desktop at home before I start my trip but it is a useful next best thing. Of course, you can't do this when the car is moving.
