Default Odd temperature range for Heating and AC

I've been enjoyiny my new 2013 ES300h for the last 3 months and recently noticed that the auto temp settings go from 18 C to 32 C. I find this very odd as in the summer I would very much like it to be cooler than 18C and in the winter it would be extremely uncofortable to keep the termostate past 28C (once the car has warmed up). Anyone else think this is odd or just me? I'm in Canada and have a Canadian ES (made in Japan), not sure if the US version is different with a different range.

That range, if I remember my metric conversions right, is about 65 degrees Fahrenheit to 90 degrees Fahrenheit. I'm not in my car right now, but I'd bet dollars to doughnuts that the range in my American ES is the same.

I believe that 65 degrees F is the same minimum low setting on every vehicle that I've owned with an automatic climate control system. I don't recall what the maximum has been on other vehicles, but I can't imagine ever wanting temperatures of even close to 90 degrees F.

I also believe that, if you are using the AC and set the system to the lowest possible temperature, what happens is that the AC runs continuously and with the fan at the highest setting, and, thus, it will give you actual temperatures lower than the lowest stated setting. Similarly, when you are using heat and set it to the highest possible temperature, it will run the heater constantly and with the fan at the highest setting, and, thus, it will give you actual temperatures hotter than the highest stated setting.

I was asking as my other car, a Honda Accord 2011 has a much more reasonable temp range. (16C to 28C). Thus I can set it to 17 C and the AC will not be constantly running. No biggy but just something I noticed. Again I've only had this car for 3 months so don't really know how it will be once the AC is used.
