Default Android phone users and pairing with the ES 300h Navigation System

Initially, I had trouble downloading/uploading my phonebook to my ES300h. Pairing the phone was no problem, but I found that there were certain numbers that would not transfer (like all of my family members). According to the Lexus.com site, there is a way to add telephone numbers manually, but that is not the case. None of the instructions pertain to the 2013 and later model. I spent about 6 hours at my Lexus dealer (on two occasions) trying to figure out what the problem was. We finally figured out a workaround this way. Android phones or at least my HTC EVO 4G LTE through Sprint has a phonebook on the phone and the gmail phonebook. The Lexus will not transfer any numbers that are LINKED both to the phone’s phonebook and the gmail phonebook. Also, if you have just gmail numbers that are linked, they will not download to the car either. You need to go into those listings and UNLINK them. Then the car will transfer the numbers.

I hope I have not confused anyone and that none of you have had this problem. I lost about 6 hours of my life that I will never get back trying to solve it. I will say that the tech’s at my Lexus dealer in Larchmont, New York (Ray Catena Lexus) were great. Before my experience with this, none of them had been confronted with this problem, and they were as perplexed as I was.
