Default ES300H brakes

We have owned our ES300H since March and love it. Averaging 39.8mpg. Living in Western Pa. we think this is great. Quick question. Does anyone have a vague idea as to brake life. I know there are many variables. Just wondering Thanks..

I have heard 60,000 to 80,000 miles or more. This is due to the electric motor doing a lot of the stopping during the regeneration process.

On my previous car (Camry Hybrid), I had to insist to have the brakes done at 5yr/65K. I drive mostly city streets and some stop-n-go traffic. I had never had a car go that long without needing at least pads and even though I was assured mine were fine, I just couldn't get my mind around it. I felt safer after having it done. I expect my 300h will have similar results, but I see no point in waiting until failure to replace pads and have some work done.

I have to laugh, as I read this.... WITH the Lady who posted this. My 'current' ( and For Sale Car)
is a 20101 Prius IV. My Mechanic asks me regularly, "Do you use these brakes??" I have 89,585 miles and the Pads have 80% thickness on them. I guess I drive like an 'Old man'.

Lexus Master Tech here,

It is rare to see brakes/rotors wear out before 100k miles. The only time they work is during a panic stop, or speeds of <10mph for the most part.

Although, when i worked on the Toyota side, i saw a customer wear out the brake pads in his Prius in 8,000 miles due to driving with 2 feet

are these ceramic pads?

I put them in my Expedition after 40k, and still have the set on after another 100k. I tow a car trailer boat and yard trailer.. plus the brake dust is almost zip.

I have original brakes on my 2013 ES300h. At 110k miles, I have 8 mm remaining. Dealer said that pads are 10mm new, and discard is 3 mm. I drive it reasonably hard, but I do let off and apply the brakes softly when approaching a light to get some regeneration. In my case, these are basically lifetime brake pads.

A common phrase that is a bit misleading is "regenerative braking" which sounds as if
something in the brake or hub is doing the work. Completely off base because all the
regen is done by the Motor Generator (MG1 & MGR) units.

Our Hybrids use electricity to gain momentum and then use the momentum to gain electricity.
It is really just that elegant. Apply the "brakes" early and very lightly and you are generating
electricity from the inertia of the moving car. Lean on the pedal harder and you will begin using
the actual disc brakes and squander the energy into brake dust! Watch the "Power Meter" (where
the Tachometer is when in Sport Mode) and keep it from going off scale at the bottom to maximize
the effect.
