My first reaction was get the new ES.... but then when you said your dad only drives about 5K a year, I think maybe I'd consider the older LS,, depending of course on the mileage... if it's relatively low mileage and he only drives 5 k a year, then you shouldn't have to worry about any major mechanical issues.... I'm sure you dad will be pleased with whatever you get him....
