Default I have the answer!

Hi fello Lex(i)

I drive my 2013 ES300H 98% of the time in sports mode. I say 98% because I sometimes forget to hit the switch to sports mode. When I asked the dealer to program it to always start in sports mode, their reply was "...this type of behavior is frowned upon..." hahahaha

Translation "Please pay more money for a more expensive model and we will be more than happy to do this modification for you"

I get ON AVERAGE 30.2 MPG, I am NOT a light driver. I push it to the limit often and I mean often.

Why did I purchase it you may be thinking. Ummm, it's a Prius, with 200HP and styles that kill the ladies. ;-)

But really: the torque from the electric power is fantastic! And I get to drive all 200HP all the time and get 30 MPG!! Sweet!

"Sport mode will in most cases suck your MPG"

I have driven several full tanks of gas in Sport mode with no appreciable difference in FE. Its all about driving style.

Yes, the ES300h is a wonderful car, keep it in ECO and drive conservatively and get 38 or more MPG, drive it hard and get 30 MPG. The best of both worlds. Just shows, sometimes you can have your cake and eat it to. I have tried sport and it is really good. I try to keep in ECO as it reminds me to be conservative and get the best mileage I can without slowing down traffic.

You would get the same mileage as you would get in Eco or Normal. I try to squeeze as much mileage as I can out of the car and I prefer Sport mode simply because it really lets me know when the engine is off. When i see the tachometer read 0, I know its running on battery. Much easier to read indicator than the whole dark blue to white on Eco.

I drive in sport mode mostly, and pretty much like I would the es350, -when entering expressways, merging traffic, etc. I have big heavy shoes.

Except I do feather the throttle a lot more once I get to cruising speed. I normally avg around 37mpgs.

today I took a trip, drove 3 hrs over 80, passing and leading the pack when needed, and computer say I'm at 36.5mpg. -which I think is Awesome!

You should try and change the speedo, to the fuel usage needle, its done on the wheel display settings. I think its worth 5 mpg a tank. mby more.

LexusLou, you can have the tachometer show regardless of the mode you are in through the settings - I have mine set this way.
