Its a collision because there are two different types of claims, a collision or comprehensive claim. A comprehensive claim is any damage arising from something that is NOT a collision. So, if another car hits you in a parking lot then its a collision. If a tree falls on it, its comprehensive.
However, only claims that come from your own cause are supposed to be taken into account when they underwrite your risk. Your car being hit in a parking lot is a hit and run, and should not be an at fault claim even if its a collision claim.
I have Allstate, and I have a $1,000 colision deductible and a $50 comprehensive deductible. I have a deductible waiver that brings my collision deductible down to $500 because of my many years without an at fault claim. I had two comprehensive claims (hail damage and a windshield) and one parking lot hit (collision but not at fault) in the same year and my rates did not budge, nor did I loose my $500 deductible waiver for my years without an at fault claim.
In my case my parking lot hit was paid out less a $200 deductible because thats what I have as uninsured motorist.
Now, with that said any claim will show up on your clue report, if you go to try and shop your insurance a new insurer may use those claims against you for cost, but your current insurer should not.
