2013 ES350 USB Won't Recognize Ipod
Hi there,
I have a 1st generation ipod (yes, that's correct, the first ipod made) and it still operates perfectly. It has 32gb of my best music but I plugged it into the USB connection and it is not being recognized . On the Ipod, the red warning comes on saying do not disconnect....I waited for a few minutes but it never initialized. Is this ipod just old for the software? When I navigate to USB, it says "no files found".

Are you looking under the USB, or the iPod tab?

BTW, I stoped using my 160gb iPod and put all my music on a 128gb flash drive. For some reason, the iPod started playing slow. It only does this in the car via the USB port. All I'm missing with the flash drive is album cover art.

Mike728 , If you don't mind me asking. Whats the highest bit rate playable by Lexus system from a flash disk? and have you tried to play MP4 , FLAC or any other formats other than Mp3? do they work.

I have not tried any other format, but I would bet none of them would play. If they did, I'm sure it would be advertised.

They do advertise it can play windows media files again not sure which bit rate. Ideally if it can play lossless files that would be amazing but I suppose 256 k is close enough to CD quality. 320 would be even better. Windows media also has a loosless file format which probably won't work.
Any tips for me on naming mp3 files. ?
Folders work?

Thank for letting me know. My car is arriving on the 15th so I'm preparing flash drive for music.

So, I just checked the folder count, it's 898. I have 1,301 folders on the drive, so I'm missing over 400 albums! Because of the odd folder count, the limit must be on the files. I'm guessing 8192, which is probably enough for most people. The MKS showed the file # that was playing and the total file count. I remember seeing over 10k, which is right on (10,526). Damn you Lexus!

Mike, Your got a audio music encyclopedia going on. I probably have 700 or so and that's including all the songs I don't like. Now, I'm curious to know what kind of music do you listen to or is it from all different genre's?
This brings to another interesting question. Does lexus audio interface have a "randomize" button and will it go through different folders to pick songs?

My collection consists of mainly Rock, but followed closely by Alternative. Then it's anywhere from Jazz to Metal. About all I don't have is Classical and Country music.
The random feature works quite well, once you figure it out. There's a "Random" button on the main screen (lower left) and hitting it once randomizes the folder you're currently in and the button shows it's been selected. Hit it again and it goes up a level, I think the artist, or next folder up. One more time and it randomizes all folders, which is where I leave it. It took me a while to figure this out. The random mode you're currently in is displayed in the upper left part of the display. Also, it takes about 5 minutes for it to actually read all the files, at least for my library. This is every time you start the car. I think you need to wait until you see the Artist currently playing to highlight, meaning all files are read, before you can select the desired random mode the first time. Once you do this, it will stay in that mode even after a restart.

Got all my songs loaded on a 32gb stick. Sorting them into folders took forever.
Now it's a waiting game. My Car arrives on the 15th.
You are right.. Classical is no go in the car for me. Even some of pink Floyd I can't listen to in the car. I find some music requires a certain setting, environment, drop back... Otherwise it's doesn't give the same feeling. Anyway... Hope all my songs work and my USB stick is recognized.
