Terrible Voice Control
#16
The HS and prior model year of IS have the older generation (13' IS updated to the latest), so it's not the same system. The latest one removed a lot of the old VR commands.

It's an upgraded version of the same system. Removing the voice commands was to improve the systems functionality, less commands, less confusion.

"she was driving and was saying "warmer""
Unfortunately you cannot just way "warmer"... you need to be in the climate control setting mode. I was playing around with the system and was able to adjust the temperature with the VC. But only after navigating to the climate control setting mode. You need to say “Automatic climate control” first to enter the climate control setting mode, and then say Warmer or Cooler although the manual does state that you should be able to adjust this from the main menu (I was not able to).
It would probably be helpful to have a list of the available commands. I have not been able to find one for this vehicle.
I was able to use some of the commands from this list:

From the manual:

LOL, its the same system! They don't design different systems for different models, they design one system and implement it into the various models.
Toyota/Lexus VR has never been great. Its a little better in my GS than in my previous cars, but still not great. It calls people from my phonebook great, which is what I need it to do. The rest are just parlor tricks IMHO.

It is really terrible dealing with phone calls and navigation. See this thread as well: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/es3...and-radio.html

Do you think maybe they can sell you your HS back? I bet they still have it...and will for some time.

Hey everyone if something is not right don't voice your opinions because you never know Lexus might correct them.
GO BACK to whatever you drove before.
Btw, I drove 2013 Honda Accord and it has almost everything ES has... Almost... feature wise it's getting hard to justify paying 60k vs half the price Accord. Yesterday when my friend was over and we discussed what's so "cool" about my new Lexus, well guess what... He kept saying. Oh yeah I have it too and some more... LOL

Lighten up Theres a difference between voicing your concern, and continually whining about the same thing, linking back to it, talking about it in threads on different topics etc. Lifes too short, if he's unhappy with his ES vs his old HS, as he seems to be, he should return it.
As for $60k...when does an ES cost $60k? It didn't cost $60k, it cost $37-$48k depending on the package. My GS cost $60k, the ES doesn't cost $60k. Specify canadian $$
As for the Accord, the new Accord is a great car. With the continuing cost cutting to the ES its getting harder and harder to justify buying one over something like an Accord. It rides smoother and quieter than the Accord, has a better warranty, its more prestigious. Better dealer experience...more room inside. Whether thats worth the approximate $8k more an ES similarly equipped to a fully loaded Touring Accord costs is up to the individual person.
I think the ES is getting expensive given the decontenting, which is one reason why I didn't buy another one this time after having owned two. A luxury car isn't only about features, its about quality, driving experience, ownership experience.

Yeah that's the speech I gave my friend after all I had to justify why I spent what I did. In the end Im happy with it and so is my wife. (most importantly) BUT my justification seemed hollow to him off course. ANYWAY.
Regarding your 1st point. I agree and I was just saying...
Didn't you know Canadians have more money, we love paying more for less. ? $ 51,750 is tech package + $2300 in fees and freight + 13% tax = ALMOST $61000 Yeap you got that right Canadian $$
How can we forget LESS features. Yes sir.
Steve, GS fully loaded is $81k. You are lucky my friend.

Yes, I definitely feel for you guys up there! lol
If your buddy doesn't get it, he's not going to get it. An Accord is a driving appliance, a very good one but its an appliance nonetheless.
