Just scratch my bumper in the front driver side on the underside near the tires,the paint has come out and I can see the black plastic material underneath. Not that big a scratch but since it is a new car it hurts. Messed up when existing out of a parking garage.

Please tell me it can be touched up with paint instead of changing the bumper. I am hoping the dealer will be able to buff out the scratch area and paint it with a touch brush.

Anyone has any experience.

There are no dents, just peeled paint.

If you have a steady hand, you could get a touch up pen from the dealer or autoparts store and just fill it in.

Or you could have a body shop fix just that spot,. They can fill and blend it in, but of course it will be a lot more expensive.

Could you maybe post pics for members to see?
You have three options:
1) If your car is really new, bring it back to your dealership and talk to your salesman/saleswoman, hopefully they will hook you up, for a lack of better words, with the shop guys.
2) Like LexRuger said, you could get a touch up pen (preferably from your dealership and/or Lexus so the paint will match) and do your best.
3) Bring it to a third party, but mind you that would cost you a lot and chances are they don't have the correct color.

Bear in mind that body touch-up paint is different than bumper paint. Your bumper cover is plastic and the body steel or aluminum. Sometimes there is an adherance issue. No matter what you use it will be noticeable - depending upon the size and severity - unless the whole bumper cover gets painted in a body shop. Been there and done that with door dings and parking lot scrapes on front bumper. If the scrape or ding is into the plastic, then filler must be used.

Yeah was gonna say the same thing, post a pic as going based off of what you said I don't know how bad the damage is.

This is the close-up photo, from the end, you see the black part which is where the paint has peeled off. I don't see any damage to the bumper as such.

Yeah I'm gonna say that can't be touched up, the bumper would need to be repainted. You can try to see if the dealer will help you with a deal since its brand new.

Ouch..that would hurt and can only feel the pain. May I ask how you got this damage. I know you said coming out of garage. Were you backing out or turning in. It looks like you grazed another vehicle or a post (cant tell from this pic)

Ouch, only way thats not going to look awful is if its professionally repaired...

No harm in trying to touch this up yourself. Since it's low, near the bottom and white it may not be as noticeable. It may also happen again with either a low driveway, or a high curb or wheel stop. Murphy's Law rules, especially if you have it re-painted.

I've tried to touch up damage like that before, you can't. That needs to be sprayed on and blended, a pen won't stick because the surface is smooth and the paint is just stripped away, and anything you apply with a brush is going to look terrible. White is actually really hard to touch up, as is silver, etc.

I wouldn't have the whole bumper repainted, find one of those outfits that specializes in bumper repairs.

you can get factory color rattle cans, and try to hide it. not much harm in trying now.. some 600 grit & body filler

I've got a scratch as well on a 2013 rx. Wondering if the consensus is to have it professionally repaired or try touch up? I think this is the plastic part.
