Care for Parchment

Missy, you don't have more dust than here in the desert, trust me. I just don't have much trouble keeping the interior clean. If I lived in winter snow climates, I'd go the route of WeatherTech. I just don't go for the look of a truck in a luxury type of sedan.

Missy, I think you should still wrap up the kids in plastic. That said, the Weathertech is nice, and no I don't think a carpeted mat will be an option unless you stay with your original mats and risk the consequence. I personally still like the Lexus all season mats as replacement to the original mats.

If you like the mats, enjoy the mats. Worst case just buy a new set every year, they're only $150.

Today I'm annoyed with how dingy the area under the Emergency Brake is starting to look. I can't even blame the kids for that. Though the full plastic wrap treatment wouldn't be bad. That's why I was considering the full coverage mats. I think I'm at a point where I'm just outright regretting the parchment. Maybe I need old people driving shoes....

A long time ago in a galaxy far far away I sold shoes at JC Penneys.... We carried Minnetonka Driving Moccasins.... the only people who ever wanted to buy them were the retirees who would try on 20 or so pairs and then get huffy about the cost or their bunions or both.... Ever since then I've always assumed that these driving shoes were for old people.... My assumption could be wrong, but I never sold a pair to anyone who appeared to be under 60....

Kids are long gone, just the wife and me, so no heavy wear. I have noticed that her black mats in the new Buick get really dirty fast with grass trimmings, light dirt, etc. Look far worse than on my parchment. But I do vacuum mine every couple of weeks and shampoo the mats every couple of months.
If the carpet isn't vacuumed regularly the dirt/sand in it will grind away the fibers fast under a heel.

You can use any good carpet shampoo. I use a shampoo from Bissel designed for a carpet shampoo machine. Just a little diluted in hot water, soak a terry towel and wipe the carpet with it. Let it sit for about 30 seconds and wipe it off with a dry towel. Carpet comes out like new. Do not use a stiff bristle brush as it will damage the carpet finish. Try to do this on a sunny or warm day so the carpets can dry. I also have a Parchment interior.
I think I'll pass on the shoes Art...
