Pros for Avalon:
Avalon is quieter
Speaking for myself and my better half, our personal experience: The ES3xx is quieter in comparison to an Avalon. The ES ride is simply a higher-end experience.

Probably not the new Avalon when you read reviews like this.

"Avalon engineers stole a move from the Lexus playbook by creating safe-room silence inside. At 59.8 decibels the Avalon recorded one of the lowest 70-mph cruise noise readings we've measured in any car in recent memory — including such costly equipment as the Bentley Continental GT (61.6 decibels) and the Audi A8 L (60.9 decibels)."

Hmmm. We should all run out and get an Avalon, then. Nice car, except for the grill.

Same could be said for the ES, it has a "shark" look to me.

I thought the ES looked more like the Predator; however, the Avalon looks more like a bottom feeder to me. Nice car, just the same. We all have our opinions.

Yeah, the Avalon grill is kind of funky.I don't know how that design got past Toyota execs.

I think the new 2013 Toyota Avalon copied the 2013 Ford Fusion which copied the Aston Martin which Ford now owns a part of.

If that's the case they did a terrible job !!
It may not be the worse looking front of any 2013 auto, but it is very close to it.
It looks like a Camry grill on top of a very poor copy of the Fusion. IMHO
I think the 2013 Fusion front end looks GREAT !!

Default Avalon vs ES350

Forget hybrid for a moment, we traded in a 2011 Avalon loaded for a new ES 350, this was a great car and one could,t go wrong with either parked in your driveway, however this new ES is a cut above the Avalon in many ways, I won't comment on the exterior design since to each their own, the big difference for us is in the interior, i.e new avalon open cupholders, they will accumulate grim, ijust feel open cupholders do not represent a luxury car, also touchscreen, got tired of looking at fingerprints, once we gor used to the remote mouse, we love it! Bottom Line, the fit and finish is heads and shoulder above the Avalon. My opion only of course!

The car looks good in white. I still need to see the grill in person, although it didn't seem to stand out as much on the white car in the video.

Love it in the white pearl. As LexBob2 posted, the color does somehow tone down the huge grill.
The LED headlights look great.

Very nice looking car - I still don't like the grill. The dash controls are plain jane, but appear to be quite functional and simple to use.

BUT, it has a compass in the mirror, an overhead sunglass compartment, and the technology package includes popular bells n' whistles, such as driver seat extender and automatic hi-beams.

Excellent value.
