Go with the manufacturers recommendation and you can't go wrong. Regular has been recommended in the ES350 since the 2012 model year. Toyota's using the same engine have used regular all along beginning, around 2007 or so. Premium wouldn't hurt anything, it won't really help anything either.

Slower burning Premium without the Compression and Ignition Timing to benefit from it might actually get less MPG. Save your money.

Costco regular - which is a tier one fuel. Anything above 87 octane is a waste of money.

I am a new Lexus ES 300h user. I was specifically told by my dealer to use premium gasoline and I just filled my first tank using premium gasoline. In an ideal world I would like to use regular if it doesn't affect my warranty and the functioning of the car.
Based on just the poll results, it seems like owners are overwhelmingly using regular unleaded gas for their cars. Can somebody speak to the warranty issue or just the performance of the car itself? Thanks.

use plus. premium isn't necessary, but in my experience(in all cars) plus gives better mileage than regular.

Premium is only needed for its anti-knock properties in high compression engines. If lower compression engines develop a knock then premium could be used but a tune up is more useful to address the cause of the knock. Before computer controlled engines that was usually due to the ignition timing being incorrect.

Your new Lexus calls for REGULAR GAS. Gasoline rated at 87 octane. Not premium, not plus, not super or anything other than regular 87 octane gas. Using premium, high octane or anything other than 87 octane and you are wasting your money. Your 300h and my 350 will run optimally on 87 octane and were designed that way. Read the owner's manual and find another Lexus dealer that knows their stuff...

Agree with you Bootman. One should always read the owner's manual. On the other hand, one should be able to trust that the dealer who sold you your car is giving you accurate information.

pg 828 of the manual says 87... or higher. so i guess really it doesn't matter what grade you use.
