It could also be what the auto/business writers are saying, that this is the time to buy hybrids and electric vehicles with the low cost of gas, and people buying the larger and thirstier vehicles. What a couple of years makes when most people forget about the high cost of gas.

What makes the numbers that people post little more than meaningless is that a dealer can give a customer a supposedly great price on purchase of the vehicle, but there are so many other ways that the dealership can pad its profits. Among those are undervaluing a trade-in, selling the customer very high mark-up dealer-installed options, selling the customer a maintenance plan, selling the customer a paint protection application, selling the customer interior surface treatments, offering unfavorable (to the buyer) finance terms, offering unfavorable (to the buyer) lease terms, etc.
Since there is really no way to eliminate all of those variables, it is difficult to assess which deals were "good" deals and which ones were not.
Also, FYI, if you live in Iowa, you are not likely to come close to the deals that the people in California, Texas, and a couple of other markets are getting. From the buyer point of view, the worst markets are the ones in the middle of the country stretching from the eastern Great Lakes region to the Great Plains. If you go through the 50+ pages of this thread, you will see consistent differences between the prices that people in California, Texas, etc. are getting and the ones that people in places like Illinois or Nebraska are getting.

This car was loaded, $51,680 msrp.
Paid $48,000 before taxes and fees.
Traded in 2014 Es300h, 3,500 miles on it - $41,500
7% off msrp was the best of the four dealers I went to in Illinois.

I'm at 10% below MSRP, and I bought the car with the 0.9% finance. The finance cost after 3 years is like $600. So you could say that I am paying 43,200 instead of 42,600. However, the finance cost is to lexus leasing and not the car. I could buy for cash, if I wanted, but I can make more money with the finance deal because investments in the stock market have higher yield than the tiny finance cost. Actually, since I avoid a lump sum payment of $42,600, I am getting around 30% returns on my investments, so I may say that I'm paying even less for the car with the finance....

Yep, I don't think you are going to do much better than that anywhere in the Midwest or the Great Plains states. I'm in the northwest corner of Illinois, and the closest Lexus dealers are either in Madison, Wisconsin or Davenport, Iowa, and their pricing may be even a little worse than that of the dealers closer to Chicago, and, in the entire region, prices are significantly higher than they are in markets like California and Texas.

You have to remember on top of the dealers invoice, they also have hold back, regional credits and other corporate incentives that add to their profit. It's a moving target based on location and time of year. For instance, I heard Corp Toyota recently offered their dealers substantial President's Day incentives this month.

Yep, they did on certain models like the 2015 Camry. During the Presidents Day weekend the California dealers would easily agree to $4,000 off MSRP on base model ($24,000) Camrys, PLUS no money down 0.9% financing for 60 months thru Toyota Financial Services. So you could pick out a Camry on the lot and drive it away with no money down and a $375 monthly payment with the first payment not due until March.

For the SE states, JM Lexus in Florida seems to be the distributor for the SE dealerships and their dealership claim to be the volume leader in sales and may perhaps offer the best deal. Has anyone ordered from an out-of-state dealer and got it delivered on a flat-bed truck?

Guys what's a good price for 2015 Crafted Line? White/ obsidian. On the window msrp it says $40,290 +500 bsm+565 hid headlamp, $640 heated seats, $1795 Navi, 500 intuitive park, 155 rain sensing wiper for total of $44,445+925delivery process fee grand total $45,370. Isn't this kinda high?
What would be a good deal on this?

MSRP = $45,370. Since you're in Illinois you might only get about 7% off $45,370 like A320pilot did; e.g. 0.93 x $45,370 = $42,194 whereas you could get 10-13% off in the Dallas, Los Angeles and San Francisco areas. If I lived in Illinois I'd offer Chicago dealers 10% off to see what happens.
I would guess that, one way or the other, pricing on a Crafted Line vehicle would be different from what it would be on a normal Lexus, but I haven't seen any posts on this board from people who bought a Crafted Line ES, and speculation about available pricing, at this point, is just that.

I live by Naperville Lexus. They seem to have an abundance of Crafted Line ES's. I think there are like 10 facing Aurora Ave.

I just did a quick check on Edmunds, and it appears that the mark-up from invoice to MSRP for the Crafted Line is the same as it is for the standard ES. What I don't know, though, is whether there are any differences between the standard ES and the Crafted Line with regard to Lexus to the dealer incentives.
