Pretty sure they can't hit 50k.

Your post reads like they sell for 50, when in fact the sell for 40 to 45. You might be able to order one for that comes to 50, but I doubt it.

The two 300h that I have are equipped with almost everything and have a 46k price tag.
Your "almost everything" leaves a lot of leeway. I have my "Order Report" wih a VIN number & can show you a MSRP, w/$895.00 Destination Charge, of $51,152.00 for a 2013 Lexus ES300h. Then, when you add taxes, license, title, and whatever, you deal with the dealer for out-the-door cost. Then, you might want window tinting, some accessories and soon it can add up to some real money.

Add another $2K-$3K for hybrid with same options and you're over $50K.
so what should Lexus do... remove options from ES so you feel better about the "fully loaded" price? Remove ES300h?

Fully loaded FWD ES350 is around 12k less than fully loaded FWD XTS, and I dont see radar cruise control listed under XTS Platnium?

XTS looks more luxurious, and more like an A6 competitor than ES, afterall, it is 12k more expensive in top edition and 8k in base, which has less equipment than base ES.

I'm not sure to whom you were responding. Your "Quote" suggested it was Joeb427, but he was responding, with prices, to another comment that the equipped total MSRP couldn't come up to $50,000.00. I followed that with a real order that confirmed that the price can exceeded $51,000.00 for the ESh. Neither were complaining about the price (that I picked up on), but only pointing out that the comment was in error. I ordered mine several weeks before the prices were known and have no regrets, in case the comment was directed towards me. No complaints, as such, but only clarifying, in case there was confusion.

Thanks!

I see you ordered yours. I doubt we will get one spec'd out like yours.

I wasn't talking about tax, title, and fees. I was just talking about sales price.

The two 300h that I have sold, were both 46k. Leather. Nav. BSM, etc.

I just wasn't sure if they could reach that high, or if Lexus made it impossible. Thanks for letting me know, and enjoy your car.

I think the ES300h will be a great seller. At 25% of the build this year, they will probably go fast.

So defensive...wow!
All I posted was an ES can be over $50K.I never said anything about the XTS other than it can be over $60K.

It is a shock to the system what these things are costing now, I have enough of a hard time with a nav GS350 being $55k and a loaded GS350 being $62k. I remember my dad buying an LS for less than $60k. Now they don't even stock them here less than $74k. I remember when that was a absolutely fully loaded UL LS430...now its an AWD LS460 with nav!

My 2003 ES fully loaded with every option was under $40k MSRP. In 10 years the car has gotten nearly $10k more expensive at the upper end...thats 25%! Now, I realize there are options on that top car that weren't available on my 2003, but even optioned out the way my 2010 was, the MSRP was $41,250 and the MSRP of a similar 2013 is $43,800. $2,500 more. When you factor in what I paid for the 2010, $36,500....the new one is a LOT more. At least in '03 I got ML, in 2010 and in 2013 I'd have to buy the UL to get ML.

yeah but that's TEN YEARS OLDER. the new ES is much bigger (avalon vs. camry platform), has loads more safety and functions. not really comparable even.

anyway, this ES is a winner! great job Lexus!! gonna sell a ton.

Oh without a doubt, I even said that in my post. I'm not saying its overpriced, I'm saying the cost of all of these luxury cars have gone up a lot, and for buyers like me who buy the same model time after time it really is felt and noticed. I'm sure I'll get one when I can set up the right deal, and I'll pay more than what I've paid before..and that will be that.

My point was, someone like Joeb is not crazy for sitting back and saying "Wow, this thing is getting pricey"...because it is. Its not just the Lexus, I mean...$50k for a C class, $45k for a TL....hell, when I looked at the TL back in '03 it was $29k loaded!

anyway, this ES is a winner! great job Lexus!! gonna sell a ton.
No question...

Well I hope to bring down the average...I picked up my ES300h last night, and I'm 33. Loving it in the 18 hours I've owned it, hah!

That's less than a 2.5% increase a year which is consistent with inflation. I bet if you did the math for compatible cars in every sector you would find similar increases.
