Default Extended warranty thoughts

Just bought a 2010 ES350 it only had 15575 miles and I bought it from an Acura dealer who convinced me because of all the electronics etc. that a 4yr 48000 miles warranty was a good idea. Anybody had problems that a warranty might be needed for? I have 60 days to back out of that warranty. Thanks

How much was the warranty? These cars are pretty reliable and the money the warranty cost might far outweigh the cost of minor repairs. Also as a FYI you can look up maintenance records for your car on the lexus website.

Warranty cost about $1680 over the course of the loan. Thanks for the info on the Lexus website. Haven't looked there yet. The carfax looks real clean and CR rates Lexus most reliable brand, so that is why I am considering dropping the warranty. I may be able to purchase a better or cheaper warranty aftermarket? Still looking into that as well.

With it being a 2010 model, all of the bugs should have been worked out (oil leaks and window regulators in th 07 model for example). 4K is a ton of cash! I would definitely think you'd be throwing money away at that price and that it would be a lot cheaper just to pay any repairs out of pocket.

If you were interested in getting an aftermarket warranty, you should be able to find one cheaper elsewhere.

But enjoy the vehicle! It should be good to you.

At $4k it sounds like it's not worth it. Do you think you would ever spend more than $4k on repairs? And I'm talking about things that the warranty would cover. Brakes, tires and other wearable parts are not covered by warranties.

Default Rethinking the Extended Warranty

I did find an aftermarket warranty (CarChex) for $1800 but they would only cover it for 3yrs 36000. I figure like you all have suggested that the Dealer's option is too much. I will be getting a 100% refund any time within the first 60 days-I guess that will work like an initial drive off warranty. 36,000 miles on top of the 16,000 on the ES350 will barely constitute an extended warranty so I'm going with the Brand quality/reliability of Lexus unless I hear anything alarming in the next couple of weeks. Thanks for your input.
