Default Old oil/grime at then bottom of transmission. Buying car within 12 hours

Hello I am looking at an 07 ES with less than 100k
Has been in a front end accident when it had about 1,500 miles but structurally looks fine.

Valve covers not leaking
While looking under the car. There is a space between the stone shield where you can visualize the transmission. There was some moist oil/grime that has accumulated.

Would a timing cover leak in this area?

Can anyone tell me hat are the different possibilities of where that oil can be coming from?
Buying the car in 12 hours would appreciate a response if you have any expertise.
hope to be part of this group soon.
thanks

The rear seal could be the problem, or the tranny pan gasket.

It sounds like a light leak from the transmission's bell housing seal which I would imagine is pretty expensive to fix. I wouldn't buy it brother.

Maybe the seller might be willing to have it fixed. If they do, I'd insight they use the appropriate toyota atf fluid and not something that you can get at the local parts store. Good luck and remember that there are plenty more of these vehicles out there for sale.

what's the price you're buying it for? just pay a few thousand below kbb. does it have a clean or salvage title? is it smogged and ready? in california the "seller" is supposed to have it smogged.. if not the title cannot transfer at the dmv.
