hmm, but i remember when looking at his display, it was actually showing the speed i was going on the digital display...
so this is not an option for us?

also another question, is it absolutely necessary to use 91 gas?

what happens if we just use regular 87 ?

is 91 ok, or must be 93 ?

Well.......at a steady speed if you reset the "Avg Speed" (by pressing the "Display" button for a couple of seconds) then the "Avg Speed" should indicate your actual speed until you change or vary the speed.

Cars prior to the 2011 model year and in accordance with your Owner's Manual require a gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 91. People use 87 or 89 and swear that they have no problem.......so if you always "drive like an old guy" you'll probably be fine. But I doubt that these same people have ever used a scantool to check if the ECM is ever retarding the ignition timing due to one or both knock sensors signals.

i see. yeah im referring to an actual digital display of your speed not average speed. so in which year did lexus implement a digital km/miles per hour display?

im surprised they didn't include this in the 2007+ models.

No ES that I know of had a digital speedo unless the new ES hybrid has one. I believe that I've seen an IS that had a digital speedo. I've recently looked at a new Mazda 3 Sport (to possibly replace our Focus) that has a digital speedo.......not a fan of them.

Nobody that I know of has reported issues using 87 gas. As a note, the Camry with the exact same engine is rated for 87 octane. I think using 91 octane gives the ES a few more extra horses than the Camry.

I use 91 because of this. 93 seems overkill.
