need advice ES 350 2008
started a post a few days ago regarding warning lights on my 2008 es 350. A day after posting this, the lights went out and all seemed good. I did keep my appt for a diagnostic this morning. I am being tolds that I need to replace the EXHAUST CONTROL VALVE? The quote is $530. As I mentioned, all warning lights are off. Do I need to replace this part, is the cost fair can it wait until the lights return...if they do?
Can a lexus mechanic (private) do the job?
Please advise

Lexus Champion
A good independent mechanic could do the job, as well as a Toyota dealership. Both at a savings vs. the Lexus shop. This engine is used across a wide range of Toyota/Lexus products

Would the valve be covered under the emissions warranty? I know the 2008 is probably out of the warranty period (7 years) but you may want to check with Lexus first. Sometimes they will give you a break.
If that falls through, follow LexBob2's advice and go to a mechanic that understands Camry's. They're basically the same car.
