2007 ES350 Electrical Smoke When Car Off
I parked my car last night in front of the house at 11:30pm last night. The car has not been driven since. At around 1pm the next day my car alarm went off and I went to shut it off and noticed very minor misty smoke coming out of the hood by the windshield. I opened the hood and could smell electrical smoke. I could not find any noticeable damage. Checked fuses and relays. Does not seem to be a problem. However when I get close to the fuse and relay panel under the hood I could hear a clicking and very distant occasional hiss sound. I tried to start the car and everything seem to work but when I push the start button nothing. At this point I disconnected the battery. I called lexus and the rep said he had seen this before and indicated that it is probably a ground or something that corroded and shorted out. Any ideas folks. I am pretty good with working on cars but need some ideas or solutions. Thank you

I heard if I follow the positive cable to the starter I might find the problem there. Possible corrosion or solenoid burned out. Anyone here of that.

Try to remove the fuse box and you'll find the burned wire or burned reley.

I pulled the starter and the solenoid ground that attached to the starter is was hardly still connected to the starter. the cable is broke. do you think that the starter and the solenoid are still goo and if so how to I replace that ground wire? I could take it to a rebuild shop in town and have them check both items. they rebuild starters and alternators.

would just corrosion cause that or would something else cause it to happen. I pulled the fuse box out and everything looks good there. not burnt wires
